I just don’t get the point of remakes, other than the obvious cash-grab potential of them. They just don’t add anything new to the world. Song remixes or movie sequels at least add something new, even if a lot of them are terrible.

Not exactly a remake. Watch them back to back. The new one isn't terrible. It's not as good as the original of course, but I liked it.
